I’ve been drawing since age four, learned Photoshop when it first came out , built websites writing html until Dreamweaver was available, edited my short films in Final Cut Pro. I continue to learn new skills including Urban Sketching and Animation using After Effects.
Even though I draw for work, Urban Sketching is very different. Urabdn sketchign is drawing form life - whatever presents itself in front of you, instead of using photo references or your imagination. I never get to see a diseased organ laid out on my desk next to the computer. Nor do I have a scanning electron microscope to view cells through or watch molecular reactions pay out.
This is from my first attempt at the local branch of the Museum of Modern Art located in Long Island City. Went with NYC Urban Sketchers.
Unfortunately, most the exhibits were video installations. But made the best of it by drawing what I could see out the staircase window; the roof of an old Post Office
It taught me I still have much more to learn in my life.
